WHAT IS PERMANENT MAKEUP?

Permanent makeup, sometimes referred to as micropigmentation or cosmetic tattooing, is a cosmetic procedure that uses a specialized device to implant pigment into the skin’s dermal layer, mimicking makeup for eyebrows, eyeliner, and lips. When compared to a traditional tattoo, permanent makeup treatments utilize finer needles to implant pigments designed specifically for permanent makeup at a shallower depth, resulting in softer results that fade over time. To maintain desired color saturation and tone, touch-ups are generally required every 1-2 years depending on skin type and lifestyle factors. 

While permanent makeup is most often requested to enhance eyebrows, lash lines and lips, it also refers to paramedical tattooing. This includes the creation of 3-D areola tattoos for those who have undergone mastectomies, belly button tattoos after a tummy tuck, fingernail and toenail tattoos for those who have lost their own from illness or accident, or camouflage for scars, birthmarks, stretchmarks or vitiligo. EYEBROWS

Our most popular permanent makeup treatment by far is for the eyebrows. There are a variety of names for this treatment in the industry and multiple methods. One method we do not offer is microblading. This method is an older method with limitations and potential concerns for skin health. For this reason, we have adopted Nano Brows, a newer method to achieve the same (if not better) hairline strokes. It is recommended to book a touch-up service every 1-3 years to maintain tone and vibrancy.

NANO BROWS

Nano brows, often referred to as 3-D Brows, offer a hyper realistic brow pattern using an ultrafine needle. Patterns are unique to every individual based on the natural brow pattern of the client (if brows are present) and the desired result. This is suitable for most skin types and provides a very natural brow result.  A mandatory 6-12 week touch up is included in the cost.

POWDER BROWS / OMBRE BROWS

Powder brows are a fantastic solution for those looking to fill in the brow area with a soft, powdery look. Intensity ranges from light and soft to a bold, yet natural, look. Ombre brows, a trending permanent makeup powder brow technique, offer a bolder tail that gradually lightens as you move to part of the brow closest to the nose. A mandatory 6-12 week touch up is included in the cost. 

COMBO BROWS

Combo brows combine the hairline strokes of nano brows, with the soft powdery look of Powder Brows. This style of brow is perfect for those who seek a natural result, but don’t necessarily need hairline strokes through the entire brow. Many clients have brows that are so dense as you move closer to the tail end, that the hairline strokes of Nano Brows would hardly be visible. Combo brows are lower in cost and often take less time, providing a perfect solution for these individuals. A mandatory 6-12 week touch up is included in the cost. 

EYELINER

Permanent Makeup Eyeliner is a very versatile treatment that can be customized to fit a variety of desired results – ranging from subtle lash line enhancement to provide the illusion of thicker lashes, to advanced techniques like winged liner or shadow to really make the eyes pop! It is recommended to book a touch-up service every 1-3 years to maintain tone and vibrancy.

LASH LINE ENHANCEMENT

The lash line enhancement is perfect for those looking to better define their eyes or create the illusion of a thicker upper lashline, without the look of bold eyeliner. A mandatory 6-12 week touch up is included in the cost. 

UPPER LINER ONLY

Permanent eyeliner on the upper lid only – offering a classic look that suits any occasion! For a bolder look, add a wing or shadow (or both) to the design. A mandatory 6-12 week touch up is included in the cost. 

LOWER LINER ONLY

Permanent eyeliner on the lower lid only offering definition below the eye. A mandatory 6-12 week touch up is included in the cost. 

FULL PERMANENT EYELINER – UPPER AND LOWER

The Full Permanent Eyeliner service provides the complete look. Keep it classic with thin, crisp definition, or add a wing or shadow (or both) to the design for a bold look that stands out among the crowd! A mandatory 6-12 week touch up is included in the cost. 

LIP BLUSH

Permanent Makeup Lip Blush is an increasingly popular service offering anything from subtle color to provide a youthful tone, to bright or bold colors that last. This service is praised for it’s ability to better balance and define the lips. While we do not extend the color beyond the natural lip line, the more vibrant and even tone often provides a look of increased lip fullness as well. A mandatory 6-12 week touch up is included in the cost of your initial service. After this touch up, it is recommended to book a touch-up service every 1-3 years to maintain tone and vibrancy. 

TOUCH-UPs

All permanent makeup services at Sunflower MediSpa include a 6-12 week touch-up in the initial cost. As your initial results heal, it is common for certain areas to fade more than others. This touch-up service is included to ensure the artist can check their work and the healed result and make any final adjustments needed to achieve the desired outcome. This is common practice within the Permanent Makeup industry.

After your initial service and 6-12 week touch-up, it is recommended to return for a touch-up every 1-3 years. The cost of a 1-3 year touch up is reduced from the cost of the initial service. Touch-up pricing is only available to you if your most recent Permanent Makeup service was provided by Sunflower MediSpa. If your permanent makeup was performed by another artist, or it has been more than 3 years since your last permanent makeup service with us, please book for the full service.

WHAT TO EXPECT

BEFORE YOUR TREATMENT

When you book your first permanent makeup appointment, you will receive our Precare Instructions for the weeks leading up to your appointment. These instructions are designed to ensure your skin is in optimal condition to provide the best results as well as minimize bleeding and maximize your skin’s healing abilities. Following Precare Instructions can have a significant impact on your end result.

DAY OF APPOINTMENT

Upon arrival, if you have not already visited for a consultation, we will discuss your medical history and desired results. We will then map the design on your skin and work with you to tweak it as needed, ensuring we are in agreement about the design before we begin.

During the procedure, you will be lying down. Remaining relaxed and limiting movement will both help the artist ensure accuracy and complete your service on time. A numbing agent will be used throughout and the reported pain level in clients is typically minimal. Appointments can take up to 4 hours depending on the treatment area, complexity of the design, and your unique skin qualities.

AFTER YOUR TREATMENT

After your treatment, you will receive your Aftercare Instructions. It is critical to follow these instructions to ensure proper healing and desired results. All permanent makeup treatments require a 6-12 week follow-up which is included in your initial cost. This appointment allows the artist to analyze the results and make any minor adjustments needed post healing. It is very common in permanent makeup for the area to heal unevenly, to some extent, and very rare for a touch up to be unnecessary.

To maintain your desired tone and saturation, a touch up will be recommended every 1-3 years. If your initial treatment was provided by Sunflower MediSpa, a touchup between 1 and 3 years will be offered at a lower cost than your initial treatment. If your previous work was performed elsewhere, or you exceed the 3 years, your treatment will be the full price.
